The book has been praised by many critics, including the dramatist Dan Rebellato, who called it a searching novel of moral ambiguities, and the novelist Margaret Atwood, who called the book Wyndham Author: John Wyndham.   As a mystery novel I feel that "The Cuckoo's Child" falls a bit flat. By the end of the novel I had identified the correct murderer, but for the wrong reasons. I'm sure this is by the author's design, but the twist (the real reason behind the murder) felt a bit random and unconvincing. A good twist is an "aha!"/5(9). TM ® & © Scholastic Inc.
